The village is very big because of the customs crossings with Turkey. There one can find a lot of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, banks, etc. One of the biggest Bulgarian rivers passes nearby. The view from the village is lovely- you can see Greece, and on one high hill there is the monument and the grave of the Bulgarian captain, to whom the village is named after. On both sides of the Bulgarian-Greece boundary there are monuments of that famous captain, who died for his country-Bulgaria. This border crossing is undergoing extensive renovations at present, and will be finished soon. The next nearest crossing into Turkey is at Lessovo. Just 15 minutes drive from Elhovo |
